Hey there!
It has been a while since I last emailed you guys. I would like to share some of what God has been doing in the last couple months. In May, I finished my last year at Grace University and I also started my internship at Camp Forest Springs. Studying at Grace in English has been a good experience. It was a little difficult, but thanks to God, I averaged 3.2 (a better average than I’ve ever had).
May 16 I arrived in Wisconsin to begin my internship. This summer, I’m going to be a trip leader in the adventure program that Camp Forest Springs offers (canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, and backpacking). We had four weeks of wilderness training, and Lord willing, starting Monday, we will lead our first group of 11 students. I’m going to be working in three different states. We do the majority of the canoeing here in Wisconsin on the Flambeau River. We’ll typically canoe 50 miles in one week. We do the kayaking on the border of Canada, kayaking down the river and ending up in Lake Superior. The rock climbing program is done in a national park on the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin. We do the backpacking portion in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the Porcupine Mountains on the shore of Lake Superior.
As you can see, I’m going to be a little bit busy…Please pray that God will use us to impact the lives of each one of our campers. I also ask that you pray for safety on the trips. The weather has been a little ___ and the rivers are very full and faster than normal. Please pray not only from protection from the weather but also from the bears J, many of the areas where we’ll be working are known for their black bears. But don’t worry…We are trained and we take plenty of precautions. With your prayers and the help of God, we will be fine.
This year, Camp Forest Springs is celebrating 50 years of ministry. God has blessed this place in a tremendous way. The summer of 1958 brought 26 campers; however, today begins the summer season here, and we are expecting 4,000 campers in the next 13 weeks! I am thankful to God and to all of you for giving me the opportunity to be part of the history of Camp Forest Springs.
I hope you have a great summer and may God continue to bless you.
