Sorry for taking so long to post something for this last couple months. Life has been kindda crazy lately, but I’m as happy as I can be. Here is a little update on what has happened in my life.
In the last post I mentioned something about how did I injure my knee and what God was doing in my life through that situation. Well, early morning January 20, went to Wausau for surgery. It was a different feeling than the first time (I had surgery November 2007). I was a little bit nervious, but God and the doctors did their job and surgery went very smooth.
This is the second surgery in my right knee, the second ACL reconstruction, and the first meniscus repair. God has been using this experience to show me a diferent approach to things and value what I’m able to do. With this surgery a lot of limitations have come to be a reality in my life, I would appresiate your prayers, so I can get use to be more limited than I was before and more careful in what I do.
As I mentioned before, I was a little nervious about surgery and what it comes with it. But, once again, God overpassed my expectations in my life and showed His care for me. Before surgery I was not sure how things would workout with insurance and some other stuff. Prasie God, all of the expenses that came with it were taken by CFS’ insurance. That was a HUGE blessing for me and my family. I really don’t know what I would do without camps insurance.
After surgery, my interaction at camp was slowed down a bunch. I was down for week and a half and with crutches for a month and a half. This whole time was a learning time and humbleing time too. My roomates and friends showed their care for me and they were always willing to help me out in what I need it. It was hard, but at the same time I appresiated their care and support throughout this whole situation.
As you know, there is a lot of snow in Wisconsin, in fact I got injured while skiing. Because of my surgery I missed the whole winter season! I missed been outside, enjoying the snow, and all the fun that comes with it, including some days with a -40°F wind-chill. Instead of been a skii instructor or supervisor, God allowed me to serve CFS by answering phones and working in the General Store. Little by little, along with my recovery I’ve been allow to do more things to help around camp.
On February, I had the opportunity to travel and visit friends in Iowa and Nebraska. I aslo experienced winter camping for the first time in my life. I learned how to build an igloo and attempted to sleep in it. It was a lot of fun and a bit cold. I have posted some pictures so you can see what I have been doing lately. With March, the end of the winter season at CFS arrived. The winter season is done, but we still have snow on the ground and some more yet to come.
God allowed me to celebrate one more year of life. On march 9th CFS hosted a “Staff appresiation day” where a lot of my peers enjoyed time skiing and snowboarding. I was not able to participate on any of this activities, but surely I enjoyed spendig time outside. That same night, my LTD class and some of my friends threw a surprise party. We had a home made piƱata and very good cake! It was a lot of fun!
I want to take an opportunity to thank all of you for been part of my life and for taking the time to follow my journey. All of you have make a difference in my life. As the apostle Paul would say… “I thank my God every time I remember you.” May the LORD bless you!
